Ultrasound

Safe, painless imaging that uses sound waves — not radiation — to see inside the body in real time.

What is an ultrasound?

Ultrasound (sonography) creates live images of the body's internal structures using high-frequency sound waves. A technologist applies a clear gel to the skin and glides a small handheld probe over the area being examined. There's no radiation involved, and most exams take less than an hour.

Ultrasound exams we offer

General ultrasound

A versatile first-line exam used to visualize organs and soft tissues throughout the body, helping your physician diagnose a wide range of conditions.

Obstetrical ultrasound

For expecting mothers, obstetrical ultrasound monitors the baby's age, position and growth, and screens for potential abnormalities throughout pregnancy.

3D ultrasound

Our 3D technology produces lifelike, three-dimensional images of your baby — often called “keepsake” ultrasounds. 3D imaging can also reveal the baby's sex earlier than a traditional 2D scan, and it's priced comparably to standard 2D imaging.

Abdominal ultrasound

Examines the kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas, liver, spleen and aorta to help diagnose disease and guide treatment.

Pelvic ultrasound

Evaluates the female pelvic organs using either a transabdominal or transvaginal approach, depending on what your physician needs to see.

Vascular ultrasound

Examines veins and arteries to detect blood clots, narrowing and other circulation problems.

Preparing for your exam: Preparation varies by exam type — some require a full bladder or fasting. Our staff will give you simple instructions when you schedule.
